The following graph shows outdoor water usage at two residences in Salt Lake County. The two families live next door to
each other and have similar size lots and homes. In both cases, the back yards have fairly traditional landscapes - trees, grass areas and a vegetable garden and areas of scrub oak. The front yards, however, differ considerably. One is a typical Salt Lake landscape with a large expanse of lawn that is watered daily; the other is a natural landscape of xeric trees, shrubs and perennials that is watered less than twice a month. |
