This is Franci's yard. She spent years killing a bit of grass each
season and planting drought-tolerant plants. It never occurred to her to simply remove the entire lawn at once. At this point, she was removing the final part of the parking strip grass and yet another piece of grass on the hill. It was slow progress toward an inevitable goal. |

A Typical Installation Process

In 1996, Franci and Lynne decided to start Xeriscape Design and use Franci's yard as a
model. They killed all the grass and tilled in tons of compost, one of the keys to success with this kind of a landscape. |
|
With Kim in charge, accent rocks
and a sandstone path were added as part of the backbone of the design. |
|
The final steps were to plant (finally - the fun part!) and add the
top covering of mulch.. |
|
And then sit back and enjoy the late summer and fall beauty!
