Water Savings

Here is a good example of the kind of water savings a xeriscape landscape can give you. This home originally had a traditional Utah landscape -
large areas of water-thirsty grass with a few shrubs against the house. The new landscape was installed in two phases: the front yard (above) in
the fall of 2001 and the backyard in the summer of 2002. The bill shown above was received for July of 2002, after the front yard was
complete but before the backyard was redone. Just by removing most of the grass in the front yard, modifying the overhead irrigation system to
water the new grass area efficiently, planting a variety of colorful xeric plants in the expanded bed areas and installing a drip irrigations system in
those bed, the homeowners' water usage was cut in half!
